Very fine, rich and delicate impression before any letter and the roulette marks are still visible. With large margins all around.

The plate was later published in London by John Boydell between 1774 and 1788 in ‘The Houghton Gallery’. The series consists in 162 prints including 27 by Richard Earlom reproducing Robert Walpole’s collection of paintings at Houghton House, which was sold later to Catherine the Great.

John Wootton was one of the leading animal painters in London, among his patrons were George II and the Duke of Malborough.
