About sleeplessness and illness. ca. 1839

Ferdinand Victor Eugène Delacroix

* 1798 in Charenton-Saint-Maurice † 1863 in Paris

Autograph letter signed ("EugDelacroix").

"Jeudi" (ca. 1839?).

8vo. 1 page.

To an unnamed close friend, apologising for not being able to meet him and complaining about sleeplessness and illness: "Excusez-moi: je serai aux antipodes de chez vous et il me serait bien difficile d'aller vous voir. Mais je me dédommagera un autre jour. Je suis devenu un couche-tôt. Je suis malade et les jours sont si courts qu'il faut se lever matin [...]".

Somewhat smudged with insignificant foxing. A collector's note in pencil dates the letter to 1839/40.
