Johannes Huibert Prins

* 1757 in The Hague † 1806 in Utrecht

Etching. Size of sheet: 26.5 x 20.2 cm.

LITERATURE: Wurzbach 5;

                         Kramm, vol. 5, p. 1318.

Very fine impression with margins, very atmospheric printed.

Prins is a fine example of a Dutch peintre-graveur of the 18th century who is self-taught after training as a medical doctor. He worked in Paris and Belgium and lived in the most humble way. He drank himself to death and drowned in a canal.
