St Mary Magdalene

Italian School, 17th century

Etching. Size of sheet: 13.2 x 10 cm.

Literature:     Unrecorded.

Very fine impression with small margins.

Accomplished etching, most likely by an Italian artist. Alternatively, the author might be of northern origin and possibly be found in the circle of an artist like Louis de Deyster (1656 – 1711), also known as Lodewyk Deyster, who was Flemish and a maker of musical instruments. His baroque paintings show a clear influence of Italian masters like Giordano, Maratta, Barocci.
