Born in Wales in 1956, Sara Lee lives and works in London. She graduated in Fine Art Painting from Ravensbourne in 1979 and went on to take an MA in Printmaking at Central School graduating in 1982. Rooted in a landscape tradition, Sara Lee's work is a response to the ephemeral nature of terrain; a gentle and evocative connection between what is known and what is imagined or remembered. Intrigued by the paradox of landscape, seemingly permanent, yet constantly evolving, her images pursue a resonance that reflects the insignificance of the individual when in witness to an exterior space.

With a studio and site-specific practice Sara Lee predominantly works with drawing, film and print, including etching and woodblock in the ukiyo-e tradition, all with a focus on landscape. She teaches at The Dulwich Picture Gallery, has written for Tate, and advised & spoken on print processes for various individuals and institutions including The Art Fund, The Royal Academy Schools, Hatton Gallery and Tate.Sara Lee has been part of the fine art print community for more than two decades. She collaborated with Master Printer Hugh Stoneman for more than ten years. Together they developed a gravure practice and co-published, under the imprint Print Centre Publications, including works by Terry Frost RA, Ian McKeever RA and Hamish Fulton. Over many years she has worked closely on etching and woodcut projects with Eileen Cooper RA, with whom she shares a print studio space and imprint Blackbird Editions.

This online exhibition features a cross section of work editioned in portfolios and sets at Stoney Road Press over the past decade. Founded in 2001 by David O'Donoghue and James O'Nolan, Stoney Road Press is a fine art publishing and editioning house which has emerged as one of Ireland's most innovative producers of limited-edition prints in traditional and experimental media, including artists' books, 3-dimensional works and tapestries.
